I've been carrying a Lenovo IdeaPad Y460p laptop for past couple of years. I do not usually prefer laptops over desktops especially for home use, but I guess I got too lazy.
2 years later, I wanted somewhat better system, and I was looking at all-in-one's... but due to the low budget, I decided to re-use the power supply, case, hard drive, and other misc (generally cheaper parts).
After spending a couple days in searching for all the parts I need, below is new system that will let me through 2013 (and hopefully longer)
- MSI FM2-A85X AMD ATX Motherboard
- AMD A10-5800K Trinity 3.8 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core APU with Radeon HD 7660D
- CORSAIR Vengeance Performance 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240 Pin DDR3 1866 (well, it's 1600 stock and had to be OC'd to 1866..... what a pain)
- ASUS PCE-N15 Wireless Adapter
After assembling, I made a few modifications to my current system configured with
- CPU core clock OCd to 4.5 GHz
- GPU core clock OCd to 844 MHz
- RAM clock OCd to 1866 (933 MHz for GPU memory)
- 2GB RAM allocated for the graphics (30GB available for the system)
which brings me enough power to do my everyday computing.
A few points:
- I should have bought only 8GB or 16GB RAM
- I should've tried to get a decent dedicated graphics card
- Maybe CPU could be better off than APUs... especially if I went with 65W cores...
- I should've had more budget in mind, and got myself an SSD drive...
Oh well, let's see what this year brigs me to! (and of course what hardward companies come up with!)

World's Largest Ray?
Just found out that, by a picture released by Florida Library site. back in 1938, a ray that is about 1200 pounds in weight was caught.
This specific ray is a type of Manta Ray, which is about 23 ft long. It is taller than a typical adult, and it could probably wrap around 6-7 people in its arms (wings?).
It has a really big, horn-looking mouth, and it has a poison sting on its tail. Luckily for humans, this species feed on plankton, and does not hunt for humans.
Kind of wondering how people could catch this first place...

bye 2012, hello 2013. I'm now an US citizen ~
I've been very lazy recently, especially in the blogging world.
And the 1st week of 2013 has passed already. I guess I'm having too much fun, as people say that the time flies when one's having fun.
Before 2012 ended, I swore an oath to become an American citizen on 12/20.
I wasn't expecting to go to work, but still it was a very long and exhausting event.
What pissed me off though, is that after taking a few pictures with my family, there was a jerk who staring at me, saying, "Now, pay your taxes."
I almost said "I think I paid more tax last year than what you've paid for your whole life," but since it was my special day, so I let it go.
Well, now I gotta wait for the jury duty slip. Hopefully I can fully understand the court vocabulary :P
