새 동생들이 생겼다.

매년 2월, 참 바쁜 한달이다.

뭐 여러가지 이유가 있겠지만, 나에게는 우리 가족의 시작을 알리는 부모님의 결혼기념일이 2월에 껴있다.

함께 있으면 챙겨드리려고 노력을 하지만, 올해는 아쉽게도 이래저래 일이 많아서 부모님이 결혼기념일을 4일 남기고 급하게 귀국을 하시는 일이 생겼었지만...

너무 갑작스런 귀국이라 따로 뭘 준비해드리지도 못하고 성의없게 현금을 조금 챙겨서 어머니께 드렸다. 식사라도 맛난거 하시라고...

그리고 막상 부모님 결혼기념일 당일날에는 일이 바빠서 짧은 전화만 겨우 드렸는데... 3주쯤 뒤에 다시 통화를 하는데 결혼기념일에 맛난곳 가셨냐고 물었더니, 안그래도 말씀해주신다면서 깜빡하셨다고...

올해는 결혼기념일에 돈을 좋은 곳에 쓰셔야겠다고 결심하셨다면서, 밥은 대충 집에서 떼우시고 새 동생들을 만드셨다고 하시는데, 난 순간 뭔말인가... 했다-_-;

알고봤더니 월드비전을 통해서 새 아들과 새 딸 스폰서를 하신다는거였다. 덕분에 나도 새로 동생들이 생겼다.

사내 녀석의 이름은 시저. 이름답게 씩씩하게 생겼다! 남미 볼리비아에 있는 녀석. 좋아하는 놀이는 축구. \

계집얘의 이름은 메디나. 참 이쁘장하게 생긴게 꼭 맘에 드는 새 여동생이다. 동유럽 보스니아에 살고 있다고 한다. 좋아하는 과목은 그림그리기.

큰형/큰오빠가 나중에 손수 편지 한통 써서 꼭 보내주마! 우리 가족사진하고 같이...

alternative to the word "SLA"

If you are in some sort of IT and/or customer service related job function, I'm pretty sure that you are familiar with the term "SLA", or Service Level Agreements.

It basically means that one party (supplier/vendor) will guarantee certain response time to the other party (customer) when a support call is logged. There are some vendors who are stupid enough to guarantee a resolution time, even though general IT people would rather want to have an SLA based on resolution time, not response time.

Anyway, within my group, people like to use the term "SLA" to the business, but my new boss hates this word. I come from a technical support background, so SLA does not sound too negative.However, I agree with my boss that this term makes the IT team feel like a 3rd party consultants/vendors.

What really sucks is that there is no word to replace SLA..... and I just called it "IS Support Terms". if anyone knows a better term, please let me know?

world's first cell phone

Almost everyone today carries a cell phone (or maybe multiple). But what about back in 1930's?


Above is a shot from a black & white movie in 1938. Many people claimed that she is a "time traveler".

Recently, someone claimed that the device in this picture is actually a cell phone, a prototype by DuPont right before World War I, according Daily Mail.

This picture was taken at DuPont factory located in Leominster, MA, and there was an area where she was testing wireless calls.

To our knowledge, the very first cell phone was DynaTAC 8000X by Motorola in 1983, and there was also a similar discussion as there was a scene with cell-phone looking device in the movie The Circus from 1928.
